Qatar to host MSC World Europa's naming ceremony
MSC Cruises will hold the naming ceremony for the MSC World Europa in Qatar on Nov. 13.
The ceremony will also serve to inaugurate the new Grand Cruise Terminal in Doha.
MSC said naming the ship in Doha "demonstrates MSC's overall commitment to Qatar and the continued importance of the Middle East, where MSC Cruises is a brand leader."
The World Europa, the first ship in MSC's World class, will have a capacity for 5,260 passengers at double occupancy. The 22-deck ship will be MSC Cruises' first to be powered by liquefied natural gas.
The World Europa will sail its maiden voyage from Doha on Dec. 20. Then it will sail seven-night voyages from Dubai, calling in Doha, Abu Dhabi and Sir Bani Yas Island in the United Arab Emirates, and Dammam in Saudi Arabia.
Next March, the MSC World Europa will sail Mediterranean cruises.
