Le Méridien Ile Maurice unveils £60million refurbishment Le Méridien Ile Maurice unveils £60million refurbishment

Le Méridien Ile Maurice has announced the complete reopening of the resort following a $60million refurbishment. Located in Pointe aux Piment in northwest Mauritius, and set on a kilometre of sandy beach, the resort offers 261 redesigned guestrooms and suites and an adults-only wing alongside a world-class spa and fitness centre, three pools and a choice of four restaurants and three bars.

The new design takes cues from the resort's surrounding tropical landscape and guests are invited to connect with nature and soak in the sweeping views of the Indian Ocean. Using a sympathetic colour palette and natural materials to seamlessly blend the property with its natural environment, the design transformation begins in the lobby, which offers uninterrupted views of the Indian Ocean and an open-air relaxation area.

The guestrooms are modern and minimal with a sympathetic colour palate of creams and blues used to seamlessly blend the hotel with its surroundings. Custom headboards are reflective of the rustic materials found in Mauritius, while the contemporary bathrooms feature large oval baths and a separate shower.

Nirvana, the adults-only wing of the resort, features 51 guestrooms with unobstructed ocean views and Prestige Suites complete with private plunge pools, whilst the Royal Suites feature a separate living and dining area and bar.

The resort's redesign continues in the Explore Spa which now features the first snow room in Mauritius, in partnership with Phytomer. In addition, guests can make use of a sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, plunge pool, five treatments rooms and a fitness suite, as well as a hair salon, relaxation garden and yoga studio.

A dedicated event space includes one of the largest ballrooms in Mauritius, alongside four break-out rooms and multi-dimensional outdoor spaces for large gatherings and celebrations.
