Kenya Airways opens direct route between Mombasa and Dubai Kenya Airways opens direct route between Mombasa and Dubai

Kenya Airways will launch a direct route between the coastal city and Mombasa and Dubai from next month.

From December 1, the route will be offered four times a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) on the Nairobi-Mombasa-Dubai route.

Flight KQ306 will depart Nairobi at 20:55, arrive in Mombasa at 21:55, leave at 23:10 and land in Dubai at 05:45 the following day. On the return leg, flight KQ307 will take off from UAE soil at 06:55 and arrive in Mombasa at 11:20, before continuing to Nairobi where it is expected to arrive at 13:35 local time.

Kenya Airways will be without competition on the Mombasa-Dubai route, which it will operate with Boeing 737-800s.  It is expected that this service will once again open up the Kenyan coast to leisure travellers, giving coastal tourism a much-needed boost in the post-pandemic recovery period. At the same time, it will allow importers and exporters to access the port of Mombasa on a non-stop flight from the trading city of Dubai, and take advantage of Kenya Airways' extensive African network via its connections

This route was served in the past by RwandAir, until December 2018. The Rwandan carrier had initially opened it in 2010 and then relaunched it in 2013.

As a reminder, Kenya Airways already serves Dubai directly from Nairobi. It currently offers 10 weekly flights by Dreamliner. It competes on this route with Emirates.
