KwaZulu-Natal: Three beaches closed due to "Cheneso"
The KwaDukuza Local Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal in consultation with the KwaZulu-Natal Sharks Board Maritime Centre of Excellence (KZNSB) has taken the decision on 27 January 2023 to officially close three beaches from 28 January 2023 until further notice. This is a precautionary measure due to Tropical Cyclone Cheneso, which affected Madagascar during the last week. The three closed beaches are Blythedale Beach, Thompson’s Bay Beach and Clarke Bay Beach.
Cheneso has in the meantime been reclassified as a post-tropical depression by Météo-France (MFR). The Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) also discontinued warnings on the system.
