Fastjet expands fleet ahead of Kariba and Hwange routes launch
FastJet's new domestic routes to Kariba and Hwange National Park are set to launch on March 23rd, with the first of their three Embraer 120 aircraft already landed in Harare.
The addition of these routes will bring the total number of domestic destinations served by FastJet in Zimbabwe to five, joining Harare, Bulawayo, and Victoria Falls. The Embraer 120 aircraft has a passenger capacity of 30 and is seen as a game-changer for the domestic tourism industry, as air travel is not commonly used due to poor connectivity.
FastJet Zimbabwe's spokesperson, Nunurai Ndawana, stated that air connectivity is a key enabler for tourism development, and the company remains committed to developing tourism in Zimbabwe and the region. Tonderai Mangombe, the Public Relations and Communications Manager for Airports Companies of Zimbabwe, expressed excitement at the arrival of the Embraer 120 and the boost it would bring to domestic tourism. FastJet has won multiple awards, including World Travel Awards and Skytrax World Airline Awards.
