Tanzania Railway Corporation notifies of major accident at Kamata rail and road junction
Tanzania Railway Corporation (TRC) has informed the public about an accident that occurred at the rail and road junction in the Kamata area on the morning of May 18, 2023.
The accident involved a passenger bus traveling between Machinga Complex and Kigamboni, which collided with the brake carriage of Deluxe Train number 8637.
Tragically, the accident resulted in the death of one woman and caused injuries to fifteen individuals, including ten women and five men. All injured individuals have been transported to Muhimbili National Hospital for treatment, and their conditions are reported to be stable.
In light of this incident, TRC emphasizes the importance of road safety and urges all drivers to pay close attention to road safety signs, particularly at rail and road intersections.
