Ibom Air has become a full member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

The airline was welcomed to the body by the Director General of IATA, Mr. Willy Walsh, in a letter dated 15 August 2023.

On this milestone, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Ibom Air, Mr. George Uriesi, said, “We are delighted to have completed the administrative processes and to now become a full member of IATA.

“Apart from the multiple benefits Ibom Air stands to gain as a member of the Association, our membership particularly offers a whole new world of cooperation opportunities in the international airline community. We intend to tap fully into these as we expand our footprint into the region and continent”.

This move by the airline strengthens its near future plan to begin regional and soon international operations and opens opportunities for it to form alliances with major players, join the big leagues.

Other airlines’ benefit from IATA membership also includes that IATA provides a powerful, unified and experienced voice that supports and promotes the interests of its members through: international recognition and lobbying, targeting key industry priorities; driving industry change, cost reduction, communication campaigns, training and other services
