Ghana’s President names new tourism minister

In the most recent cabinet reshuffle, President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana has put forward Andrew Egyapa Mercer as the nominee for the role of Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture.

Mercer will succeed Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Awal, who has served as the Minister for this sector since 2021. Currently holding the position of Member of Parliament for Sekondi Constituency in the Western region and serving as Deputy Energy Minister, Mercer will be tasked with guiding a sector still in recovery from the impact of COVID-19.

It is important to note that Mercer's appointment is contingent upon undergoing parliamentary vetting and receiving approval.
