Nigeria proposes local catering for Qatar Airways to boost economy
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, has assured the international community of Nigeria’s openness to investment in civil aviation and other sectors of the economy. Speaking at the sidelines at the third edition of the Future Aviation Forum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, themed “Elevating Global Connectivity,” Keyamo highlighted the importance of fostering innovation, sustainable air travel, and cultural exchange.
He expressed gratitude to Qatar’s Minister of Transport, Jassim Saif Ahmed Al-Sulaiti, for the invitation and his interest in Nigeria. Keyamo emphasized the importance of learning from Qatar’s successful airline operations, particularly Qatar Airways, and sought collaboration to enhance Nigeria’s aviation sector.
A significant proposal made by Keyamo includes encouraging Qatar Airways to use local catering services for its return flights to Doha from Nigeria.
This initiative aligns with the principles of reciprocity in the Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) and aims to boost Nigeria’s local economy.
The forum, which brings together leaders from the aviation sector and related industries, serves as a catalyst for knowledge exchange and business opportunities in a dynamic economic sector.
