Ibom Air has said that it would henceforth focus its plan on route and fleet expansions, innovation and cutting-edge technology in a bid to continue to dominate the Nigerian and African markets. The airline in a statement marking its fifth-year anniversary over the weekend by Aniekan Essienette, GM, Marketing and Media Relations, said that these were parts of its ambitious plans for the future.

According to the statement, Ibom Air would position itself as a responsible Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) company with a clear sustainability vision, a rapid fleet and route expansion plan to tackle connectivity issues within the African region. Mfom Udom, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ibom Air in the statement said that the management was proud of the accomplished of the airline in the past five years of operations.

Udom emphasised that its success was a testament to the hard work and dedication of its entire team and the patronage of its customers.

“As we celebrate this milestone, we also congratulate our shareholders, the government and the people of Akwa Ibom State and commend them for their committed ownership and strong support from the start. Because of this, we remain focused on connecting people and places with excellence.”

Also, Mr. George Uriesi, the Chief Operating Officer (COO), Ibom Air, recalled that the airline recently unveiled cutting-edge technology and infrastructure to improve its booking, check-in, and in-flight services, while also enhancing its self-service portal on the website to make it more user-friendly.

He assured that similar attention would be paid to one of its most critical touchpoints – the call centre, stressing that the management planned to make it a 24-hour service shortly.

The airline further said that in the area of sustainability, it’s initiatives aimed to reduce its environmental impact through sustainable practices, including the introduction of brand new, fuel-efficient Airbus A220-300 aircraft.

The expected fleet of 11 of these aircraft, it said would ensure that the airline’s carbon footprint was in line with global best practice, while its corporate social responsibility programme would focus on giving back to the less privileged and the vulnerable, positively impacting its communities.

It added that further commemoration of this milestone, Ibom Air would celebrate its people with a special recognition of staff who have been with the airline since its inception.

“At Ibom Air today and every day, we appreciate our customers who have stayed with us and have been unwavering in their commitment to building this brand. As a result, we pledge to continue to uphold the highest standards of safety, comfort and convenience for our passengers,” Uriesi said.

Since inception, Ibom Air has been committed to offering world-class schedule reliability, on-time departures and excellent service, earning the confidence and loyalty of passengers across the region.

Since launching commercial operations on June 7, 2019, Ibom Air has grown remarkably, expanding its fleet, increasing its route network and enhancing the overall customer experience.

The airline has consistently achieved impressive performance metrics, including industry-leading on-time performance, which has become a hallmark of its operations.
