Disney Cruise Line reveals details about upcoming Disney Treasure and Adventure
Disney Cruise Line has revealed dining and entertainment details for its upcoming cruise ship Disney Treasure, a sister ship to Disney Wish, as well as itinerary and onboard details for the upcoming Disney Adventure, its largest cruise ship ever, carrying 6,000 passengers.
Disney Treasure is the second in the Wish class, carrying 4,000 passengers, while Disney Adventure is the former Global Dream, acquired while still under construction following the collapse of Dream Cruises and its parent company Genting Hong Kong.
The new Disney Treasure will introduce several new dining and entertainment concepts when it enters service in late 2024, while Disney Adventure will mark Disney Cruise Line’s first-ever homeporting operation in Asia.
Disney Treasure
Combining new experiences with returning favourites, the concepts being introduced aboard Disney Treasure include an adult lounge themed to The Aristocats, as well as a Coco-inspired menu and a Guardians of the Galaxy dinner offering.
Scat Cat Lounge
The new Scat Cat Lounge themed to The Atristocats will be designed as an old-school jazz club incorporating the performance of “Ev’erybody Wants to be a Cat” from the Walt Disney Animation Studios film and featuring an assortment of hanging lanterns and a paw print-adorned baby grand piano in honour of the film’s character Scat Cat.
The Scat Cat Lounge will also take design cues from the Grand Hall’s Agrabah-inspired architecture as it will be a direct extension of the space. The lounge will offer live music and a dedicated menu of craft cocktails.
These include the Créme de la Créme Martini served in a French-style ceramic bowl and fusing cognac and chocolate into a creamy dessert cocktail reminiscent of The Aristocats kittens, Marie, Toulouse and Berlioz’s evening treat.
Another cocktail called the Cat Drink will combine clarified bourbon, amaro, Aperol and fresh lemon into a cocktail that shows off handcrafted drinkware that will be embossed with the image of a cat.
Cinematic Dining
Disney Cruise Line’s Marvel-themed cinematic dining experience, Worlds of Marvel, which debuted aboard Disney Wish, will return aboard Disney Treasure, offering two distinct dining experiences, including a brand-new offering showcasing Rocket and Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy.
Throughout the dinner experience, guests will eat to the beat of a mix of hit songs from decades past and have the chance to test their knowledge of the Marvel universe with activities for the whole family.
The second dining concept at Worlds of Marvel will be an “Avengers: Quantum Encounter,” cinematic dining adventure that follows Ant-Man and The Wasp as they work to protect new Quantum Core technology from a fearsome foe.
At Plaza de Coco, Disney says “an array of artful dishes” will transport guests to the heart of the town at the centre of the Pixar Animation Studios film Coco. The menu will be designed around traditional recipes from the movie’s Rivera family and two distinct evenings of theatrical entertainment will be offered.
Dishes at Plaza de Coco include Abuelita Elena Shrimp Diabla with chili-chipotle sauce, cilantro, pickled red onion and toasted birotes, and Chorizo Street Croquettes with chili-lime crema, cotija cheese and cilantro.
Jumbeaux’s Sweets
Disney Treasure will also offer Jumbeaux’s Sweets, inspired by Disney Animation’s Zootopia and featuring a selection of more than 35 flavours of handmade gelato, ice cream, plant-based frozen desserts and sorbets.
In a nod to one of the movie’s main characters, Officer Judy Hopps, and her family’s carrot farm, the Judy Hopps Carrot Cupcake will feature spiced carrot cake layered between lemon frosting, white chocolate crème and blueberry compote.
The Mango Leopard Cakesicle will honor the residents of Zootopia with a lemon fudge cake pop drizzled with mango chocolate glaze and decorated with a spotted leopard print, while a crop of three Carrot Chocolate Covered Strawberries will also be served over cookie crumble soil and decorated with piped stems made of frosting.
Each Zootopia Chocolate Bark Post Card will represent a character from Disney’s Zootopia and carry its own distinct flavor variation that will combine an assortment of dried fruits, nuts, and sprinkles in dark, milk, or white chocolate treats.
Disney Adventure
The largest cruise ship ever in its fleet, Disney Adventure will debut in Singapore in 2025 and will be the first Disney ship to homeport in Asia. At 208,000-gross tons, the vessel will be in a similar class size to the Oasis-class of Royal Caribbean, and like those mammoth vessels, will feature seven distinct onboard areas.
“We’re bringing the magic of Disney Cruise Line to Asia for the first time ever, and we want to give our guests the cruise relaxation and Disney fun they can only experience aboard one of our ships,” said Sharon Siskie, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Disney Cruise Line.
“When they set sail on the Disney Adventure, guests will find incredible, immersive areas that bring the worlds of Disney, Pixar and Marvel to life in ways like never before – and these uniquely Disney experiences will inspire families to reconnect, recharge and make unforgettable memories that they’ll cherish forever,” she added.
Seven uniquely themed areas
Disney Adventure will feature seven distinct areas, reminiscent of Royal Caribbean’s ‘neighbourhoods’ and Carnival Cruise Line’s ‘zones’ aboard its Excel-class ships, but aboard Disney Adventure they will be themed around the worlds of Marvel, Pixar, and Disney Animation Studios.
Disney Imagination Garden will be a rooftop garden and open-air performance venue, while Disney Discovery Reef will be a dynamic retreat where families can shop and dine. The space will evoke aquatic characters and stories from The Little Mermaid, Lilo & Stitch, Finding Nemo and Luca.
San Fransokyo Street will be a family entertainment area featuring various interactive games and activities, shops and cinemas, while Wayfinder Bay will be a poolside space featuring the Pacific Islands-inspired artistry of Disney Animation’s Moana.
Town Square is a fantastical forest filled with shops, lounges, cafes, restaurants and entertainment venues, and Marvel Landing will offer new attractions and experiences featuring guests’ favorite superheroes from the Avengers and associated film franchises.
Toy Story Place will offer themed food venues and water play areas, where the world of Pixar’s Toy Storymovies and shorts springs to life.
Throughout the ship, there will be character encounters, stage shows featuring Disney songs and characters, signature events, first-run films, karaoke and game shows, but Disney Cruise Line has not yet revealed details about onboard entertainment.
Disney Treasure and Disney Adventure Itineraries Disney Treasure’s maiden voyage, a seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruise from Port Canaveral, will set sail on December 21st, 2024, with the ship homeporting in Port Canaveral and sailing 7-night roundtrip cruises to the Eastern and Western Caribbean. Disney Adventure will offer 3- and 4-night cruises from Singapore, with the cruise line having signed a five-year homeporting deal with the Marina Bay Cruise Centre and Singapore Tourism Board.
