Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has pledged his administration’s support and collaboration with the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA) to revive the cultural tourism economy in the state and across the Eastern region of Nigeria.

The governor made this commitment during a meeting with the Vice President of NANTA Eastern Zone, Mr. Ehiogie Osaigbovo Hope, and other members of the association in Abakaliki last week.

Governor Nwifuru expressed his gratitude for the association’s interest in partnering with the state to promote tourism and drive economic growth.

“We are happy to have NANTA work with us to market Ebonyi State and put us out there in the national and global space,” the governor said. He added, “We have the best road infrastructure, good hotels, and an airport that will add to the wholesome tourism experience in our dear state. My commissioner of culture and tourism has my express mandate to have a round table discussion with you, study your proposals, and I assure you that it is a done deal.”

The governor also commended the leadership qualities of Mr. Ehiogie, describing him as a transformational leader who is committed to reviving tourism activities in the state and the entire region.

He noted that the proposed first-ever Eastern Nigeria Tourism Market is a dream that will resonate with the people of Ebonyi and the entire Eastern region.

Mr. Hope, in his address, informed the governor that the eastern zone of NANTA has established four training centers to provide opportunities for youths in the region to learn about travel and tourism trade.

He also announced plans to host the first Eastern Regional Tourism Fair and partner with local and international airlines to drive the revival of the cultural tourism economy.

“We are grateful for this opportunity to work and help with the transformation of Ebonyi tourism,” Mr. Hope said. “We are pleading with the governor to support NANTA initiatives to drive the revival of the cultural tourism economy in Ebonyi State, which is pivotal to redefining the travel and entrepreneur narrative in the region.”
