Zanzibar introduces mandatory travel insurance for visitors
Travellers to the island of Zanzibar will soon be required to present a mandatory travel insurance at all points of entry.
“This policy, effective from 1st October 2024, applies to all foreign visitors entering Zanzibar through seaports and airports, excluding residents” a statement issued by the Zanzibar Commission for Tourism said.
The new requirement, the Zanzibar Government says, is “part of the government’s efforts to enhance visitor safety,” and it “provides coverage for emergencies, including medical expenses, repatriation and evacuation.”
The objective, it adds, is to mitigate potential risks and ensure all travellers enjoy a safe experience while in Zanzibar.
