Emirates to discontinue flights between Singapore and Melbourne
Dubai-based airline, Emirates, has announced that it will discontinue its flights between Singapore and Melbourne, according to a report by the Straits Times.
The decision was communicated via a message from the city-state's Competition and Consumer Commission. Emirates has been operating this route since 1996, as part of its cooperation with Australian airline, Qantas. This is not the first time Emirates has made such a decision; in 2019, the airline discontinued its flights between Singapore and Brisbane.
The exact date of the discontinuation has not yet been confirmed by Emirates. However, the airline continues to maintain a strong presence in both cities, with four daily flights to Singapore and two daily flights to Melbourne. This decision comes amidst a challenging time for the aviation industry, as airlines worldwide adjust their operations in response to changing travel patterns and market demand.
