Ibom Air expands Fleet with Two New CRJ900s
Ibom Air, Nigeria’s fastest-growing airline, has taken delivery of two new Bombardier CRJ 900 next-generation aircraft, registered as 5N-CED and 5N-CEE.
The formal reception ceremony took place today in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, where the aircraft were received by His Excellency Pastor Umo Eno, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State. The addition of the two CRJ 900 aircraft brings Ibom Air’s total fleet to nine, comprising two Airbus A220-300s and seven CRJ 900s.
Governor Umo Eno, in his remarks, commended Ibom Air for its commitment to the state’s economic growth and development.
He stated that the airline’s expansion is in line with the state’s ARISE Agenda, which prioritizes strategic investments in sectors that can stimulate economic growth and enhance the state’s status among the federation.
The airline’s CEO, Mr. Mfon Udom, emphasized the significance of this acquisition, stating that it will enable the airline to increase its capacity, improve connectivity, and enhance reliability for travelers. “Ibom Air is committed to growing its fleet and expanding its services to meet the increasing demand for air travel in Nigeria”.
He added, “We are excited about the opportunities these new aircraft will bring and look forward to continuing to provide our customers with a safe, reliable, and comfortable travel experience.”
The two new CRJ 900 aircraft were purchased outright through a shareholder loan, and their addition will enable Ibom Air to offer more flights and routes, providing better connectivity for travelers.
The airline is also awaiting the delivery of nine remaining Airbus A220-300s from Airbus over the next three years.
