Kariba Tourism Thrives with New Activities and Preparations for the Festive Season Kariba Tourism Thrives with New Activities and Preparations for the Festive Season

As the festive season approaches, the vibrant tourism scene in Kariba is buzzing with excitement, as many hotels and lodges are already fully booked. This surge in bookings reflects the growing interest in the region, where tourism operators are introducing an array of new activities to enhance visitors' experiences. Among these exciting offerings are parasailing and a thrilling zipline, both of which have proven to be immensely popular among tourists seeking adventure.

In the nearby town of Chirundu, low water levels in the Zambezi River have posed challenges for fishing enthusiasts who typically enjoy boating downstream. Despite this setback, tourism operators are adapting by introducing new boats equipped with modern amenities to ensure that tourists can still enjoy their time on the water, even in less than ideal conditions.

These upgraded vessels promise a more comfortable and enjoyable experience, allowing visitors to take in the stunning scenery along the river. Mr. Cephas Shonhiwa, the coordinator of the Kariba Tourism and Business Indaba (KTBI), has expressed confidence in the readiness of local operators and hoteliers to welcome guests during this bustling holiday period. "Operators are prepared and have made all necessary arrangements to receive visitors for the holidays," Mr. Shonhiwa stated. He highlighted the introduction of thrilling new activities, such as parasailing and ziplining, which have become major attractions for visitors looking to make the most of their time in Kariba.

Although there have been some cancellations attributed to the poor condition of the roads, efforts are underway to address these issues. Mr. Shonhiwa mentioned that significant work is being done to repair damaged sections of the roads that connect the area, ensuring smoother travel for tourists. Companies like Bitumen World and Exodus are actively engaged in patching potholes on critical routes, including parts of the Harare-Chirundu highway. With these developments, Kariba is set to offer a memorable experience for both local and international tourists during the festive season. The combination of fully booked accommodations, exciting new activities, and improved infrastructure promises to make this holiday period one of the most enjoyable yet for visitors to this beautiful region. As the community comes together to enhance the tourism experience, Kariba continues to solidify its reputation as a premier destination for adventure and relaxation, ensuring that visitors leave with unforgettable memories.
