Air Seychelles Wraps Up Successful Seasonal Flights to Reunion Island
Air Seychelles has completed its seasonal operations to Reunion Island, which ran from 30 December 2024 to 18 January 2025, successfully connecting two breathtaking island destinations. During this period, the airline carried nearly 500 passengers across eight rotations, reflecting robust demand and growing travel interest between the Seychelles and Reunion.
The seasonal flights offered two direct services between the Seychelles and Reunion, accompanied by additional routes making stops in Mauritius. These services provided passengers with greater flexibility and enhanced travel options. This initiative was a collaborative effort with Tourism Seychelles, aimed at boosting accessibility and encouraging tourism between the two islands.
This operation is part of a strategic partnership formed in June 2024, following a Special Prorate Agreement (SPA) signed with Air Austral. The agreement was established in response to Air Austral’s suspension of services to the Seychelles, enabling Air Seychelles to step in and maintain vital connectivity with Reunion Island.
Charles Johnson, Chief Commercial Officer of Air Seychelles, shared his enthusiasm for the venture, stating, “We are pleased to have operated our first round of commercial flights between Seychelles and Reunion during the festive peak season. We look forward to offering more direct services during school holidays, when traffic and demand increase.” He added that during other times of the year, passengers can connect to Reunion via Mauritius, thanks to Air Seychelles’ three weekly flights on this route.
The collaboration between Air Seychelles and Tourism Seychelles played a pivotal role in promoting travel between the Seychelles and Reunion. By working closely with partners, the airline ensured that travelers could explore the unique offerings of both destinations, from Reunion’s volcanic landscapes to the Seychelles’ pristine beaches.
Air Seychelles expressed its gratitude to its passengers, Tourism Seychelles, and travel partners for their support in making the seasonal operations a success. The airline is committed to further strengthening ties between the islands and expanding travel opportunities in the future.
For African travel agents, this development presents exciting prospects to promote island-hopping adventures in the Indian Ocean. With enhanced connectivity and growing demand, agents can craft unique travel packages that showcase the diverse beauty and culture of both the Seychelles and Reunion.
As Air Seychelles looks ahead to more seasonal and direct services, these partnerships and operations highlight the vital role of regional collaboration in promoting tourism and ensuring seamless travel experiences for passengers.
