NAHCO Seals New Handling Deals with Afrijet & Air Sierra Leone, Boosts Regional Coverage
The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) is kicking off the New Year on a high note, having recently secured contracts to handle operations for Afrijet and Air Sierra Leone, two prominent regional airlines. Under these agreements, NAHCO is set to deliver its trademark ground-handling expertise for Afrijet’s flights into Port Harcourt and Lagos, as well as manage operations for Air Sierra Leone services to Lagos.
According to a statement shared by Tayo Ajakaye, the handling deals feature a three-year term for Afrijet from 2024 to 2027, while Air Sierra Leone is signing on for five years, running from 2024 until 2029. This development broadens NAHCO’s reach, further positioning it as a top choice for airlines seeking reliable support in Nigeria’s bustling aviation market.
Commenting on the inked contracts, Prince Saheed Lasisi, Group Executive Director, Commercial & Business Development at NAHCO, emphasized the company’s unwavering commitment to delivering quality ground-handling solutions. With over 45 years of proven service, NAHCO has cultivated a reputation that places it above many other providers in the industry. Lasisi added that this milestone sets a positive tone for the year ahead and underscores the firm’s ability to meet—and exceed—international standards.
Both Afrijet and Air Sierra Leone can expect prompt, well-coordinated service, thanks to NAHCO’s extensive expertise in handling diverse aviation requirements. Featuring a team rich in professional and practical experience, NAHCO applies established benchmarks that have effectively guided ground-handling operations across Nigeria. The newly formed partnership also promises a smoother experience for airline passengers, many of whom are African travelers transiting through Lagos or Port Harcourt for leisure, business, or onward connections.
Reflecting on NAHCO’s track record, Olumuyiwa Olumekun, Group Managing Director, reassured the airlines that the handling company upholds the highest levels of operational excellence and consistency. In an evolving market where airlines often seek stability and efficiency, NAHCO continues to expand its portfolio, positioning itself as a trusted partner for carriers entering or expanding in West Africa.
With these latest agreements, NAHCO strengthens its momentum in pursuing near-comprehensive coverage for international airlines operating in and out of Nigeria. For African travel agents and tour operators, the enhanced capacity and dependable infrastructure mean more streamlined regional connections for onward journeys. As air traffic grows and more partnerships take flight, NAHCO’s role as a leading ground handler appears destined to flourish, solidifying its valuable position in Africa’s aviation ecosystem.
