Teshome Teklu, Lead Executive Officer for the Promotion Sector at the Ministry of Tourism, attributes the surge in visitor numbers directly to reforms implemented over the past five to six years. These systematic changes have addressed infrastructure gaps, enhanced visitor experiences and elevated Ethiopia's profile in competitive international markets.

Central to this transformation are several flagship initiatives championed by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, including programmes branded as Dine for Sheger, Dine for Nation and Dine for Generation. The Beautifying Sheger Project stands among the most visible achievements, representing an ambitious urban renewal programme focused on revitalising riversides throughout Addis Ababa.
