These platforms have been closed since the end of March, as part of the measures to combat the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The government wants to coincide this period of revival of aviation activities with the structural reform of the national flagship. The Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in fact instructed the "revision of the management mode of the company Air Algeria so as to make it competitive internationally, and reduction of the number of its commercial agencies abroad". In its new form, the carrier will be geared towards "opening up new lines, especially to the Americas and Africa" ​​as recommended by the head of state.

At the domestic level, Air Algérie will however have to prepare for the arrival of new competitors. Indeed, the Council of Ministers also prescribed the "creation of special companies in order to ensure the internal air transport service to create an economic dynamic and absorb unemployment. "
