Botswana’s National Airways, Air Botswana has announced plans to re-commence scheduled regional operations. The airline on Monday said the decision was in accordance with the government’s announcement to relax international travel restrictions.

According to Air Botswana, re-commencement of its scheduled regional operations is effective from November 10.

In addition, Air Botswana would initially offer four weekly flights between Gaborone and Johannesburg, to be adjusted based on travel demand.

Other regional destinations would be gradually introduced, including Cape Town, Harare and Lusaka.  Agnes Khunwana, Air Botswana General Manager said, “we remain committed to continue implementing comprehensive safety and health measures, that are in line with globally recommended COVID-19 mitigation standards”.

 She said in spite of the difficult operating environment, the airliner would continue to explore new ways of doing things and exploit any possible opportunities.  Earlier, Botswana’s President Mokgweetsi Masisi announced plans to open up the country’s ports of entry gradually amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
