ITB: Trust is the global travel industry’s new currency ITB: Trust is the global travel industry’s new currency

How can the international tourism industry regain the trust of travellers in these extraordinary times?

That is the question that the ITB Virtual Convention on itb.com will seek to answer at 2 p.m. CET on Thursday, 19 November 2020. Under the heading ’Spotlight on rebuilding trust in International Tourism & Travel ’, topics discussed by experts from the hospitality, aviation and cruise industries will include what forms of travel are still possible, how safe hygiene concepts are, and where the industry stands in relation to testing and quarantine rules.

In their discussions the experts will also focus on best and worst-case scenarios and how, should the situation arise, consumers can get their money back. Together with Klaus-Dieter Koch, managing partner and founder of BrandTrust, a recognised authority on trust management, Marc Aeberhard, proprietor of Luxury Hotel & Spa Management Ltd., Christophe Mostert, managing partner of M2P Consulting and Thomas P. Illes, Owner/CEO, thilles consulting GmbH and cruise industry analyst, university lecturer and journalist, will discuss possible ways out of the “trust dilemma”. The virtual panel discussion will be moderated by Prof. Dr. Roland Conrady, science head of the ITB Berlin Convention and professor at Hochschule Worms.

The session will be live-streamed in English and available subsequently on demand. It represents the continuation of the highly successful online session series on ITB.com launched in March 2020. With it, ITB has cemented its reputation as a virtual think tank. In addition to panel discussions the global hub also features regular industry news as well as the ITB Travel Network for B2B representatives of the global travel and tourism industry. Only a few weeks ago the World’s Leading Tourism Travel Trade Show launched a new podcast series. Here, under the title ’300 seconds with…’, leading industry figures can express their opinions on a current industry topic.

ITB Berlin recently announced that the annually scheduled trade show will take place in 2021 as an entirely virtual event for B2B visitors. On 16 November ITB Berlin will issue a press release with more details, including information on exhibitors and sponsorship packages, tickets and booking options.
