MANAGEMENT of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has embarked on a tour of all twentythree (23) government-owned airports as part of effort to assess their infrastructural needs, check their preparation in handling traffic ahead of the Yuletide in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The FAAN team comprising managing director, Captain Rabiu Yadudu is set to visit the 23 airports in the next ten (10) days starting with the Yakubu Gowon Airport Jos followed by Bauchi Airport, Kaduna Airport, Gombe and Maiduguri Airports before taking another batch of airports.

Last week the FAAN management team in company of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) inspected the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) ahead of plans to commission the airport.

Apart from assessing the infrastructure needs of some of these airports, the FAAN team is also assessing compliance to COVID-19 Health protocols at the airports to ensure safety as the Yuletide fast approaches and traffic is expected to spike. Recall that FAAN has complied with all the NCAA regulation to stop the spread of COVID-19 and is currently ensuring that the airports safe to travel through.

Managing director of FAAN, Yadudu and directors interfaced with members of FAAN staff over welfare and working conditions in a town hall meeting explaining the importance of their functions at the airport   and promising to pay all pending allowances. The FAAN boss and his management team also inspected the airside and staff quarters at the airports inspected.

Management staff during the tour are Mrs. Nike Aboderin Director Finance and Accounts, Engineer Salisu Nurudeen Daura, Director of Engineering services; Director of Commercial Business Development, Sadiku Abdulkad Rafindadi, Group Captain Usman Abubakar Sadiq (rtd) Director of Security Services, Captain Mukhar Muye Director of Airport Operations, Norris Anozie Director of Human Resources.
