Cabo Verde Connect Services suspends flights to Portugal
Formed in 2019, with the aim of connecting the different islands of Cape Verde, Cabo Verde Connect Services (CVCS) launched on the international market on December 2.
Gradually, the private company, supported by the Azores Airlines fleet, opened three routes to Lisbon, Boston and Paris.
Cabo Verde Connect announced this Tuesday, February 2, the temporary suspension of its routes between Portugal and Cape Verde. Thus, the Lisbon - Espargos (Sal) axis will be suspended from February 13 to March 14, 2021. The Lisbon - Praia route will be frozen from February 10 to March 17.
These suspensions are motivated by the new state of emergency in force in Portugal. This has resulted in a new border closure, and only allows "essential" travel. This is a real blow for the company created by Lease Fly in partnership with Newtour Group and Cabo Verde Airlines (CVA). Indeed, it only entered the international market on December 2, 2020, with the opening of the Lisbon - Praia line (1 weekly flight). The one linking the Portuguese capital to the island of Sal was opened 12 days later (2 weekly flights). The carrier will now have to be content with its only international route to Boston in the United States. She has been operated since December 3, once a week via Ponta Delgada. Its flights to Paris (France) have also been suspended. All international routes of Cabo Verde Connect Services are operated by Azores Airlines, a Portuguese private carrier. Launched in 2019, Cabo Verde Connect Services previously aimed to connect the various islands of Cape Verde.
