Fly-SAX opens domestic route between Nairobi, Eldoret and Lodwar Fly-SAX opens domestic route between Nairobi, Eldoret and Lodwar

Previously specialized in charter and safari flights, Fly-SAX, known under the trade name “Eastafrican. com”, has extended its operations to regular flights. Since entering this segment, the carrier has gradually developed its domestic network.

Fly-SAX launched on Monday February 1, its new Nairobi - Eldoret - Lodwar route. The private Kenyan company now offers 3 weekly flights (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) between the country's capital (Wilson airport) and the two cities of the Rift Valley province. Starting this rotation, it joins Jambojet, Skyward Express and Fly540 (its parent company) on the Nairobi - Eldoret route.

The latter two are also extending their flights to Lodwar. Present on the inaugural flight, Jimmy Kibati, the Marketing and Business Development Director of the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), sees the launch of this line as a sign of confidence in the air transport market, amid restrictions linked to the Covid-19 pandemic. For his part, Jackson Mandago, governor of Uasin Gishu County, pledges his administration's commitment to work with KAA to make Eldoret International Airport a more commercially viable hub. The aim is to make it a freight hub in the western region of Kenya.

Fly-SAX is positioned as the first private safari and charter company in Kenya. From Jomo Kenyatta and Wilson airports in Nairobi, it offers regular and on-demand flights to destinations such as Malindi, Diani, Lamu, Ukunda, Kitale, Masai Mara, Wajir, Homa Bay and Lokichogio. Its active fleet includes a 67-seat Fokker 28, a Dash8-300, a Dash8-100 and a 19-seat Beechcraft 1900.
