TransNamib Derailment

A derailment occurred at the TransNamib Swakopmund Train Station on 16 March 2021 at approximately 13h30. Regretfully one fatality was noted in the initial statement.

Four locomotives, 25 wagons and a stretch of track infrastructure sustained significant damage. No harmful or hazardous goods were being transported at the time of the accident. The company is in the process of initiating an investigation into the root cause of the accident.

No further information has been issued by the railway operator.
