Air Senegal returns to Guinea Bissau, continues network expansion
The 2020 air gap does not undermine Air Senegal's ambitions.
The Senegalese airlines has already rebuilt almost all of its pre-crisis network. Additionally, Air Senegal has announced the resumption of its flights to Guinea Bissau. From May 17, the Senegalese national carrier will offer 4 flights per week(Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday) between Dakar and Bissau. “The route will be operated by ATR 72-600 aircraft, a 70-seat aircraft including 12 in Premium class and 58 in Economy class. The flight will offer connections via Dakar to Praia, in both directions,”says the carrier.
According to Ibrahima Kane, director general of Air Senegal, this city pair, which was suspended last year at the height of the health crisis, is a "highly strategic section whose development contributes to strengthening the fraternal links between Guinea Bissau and Senegal ".
An expanding network Air Senegal resumed flights in July 2020 after a 4-month suspension due to travel restrictions. Since then, the company has reconnected with almost all of its pre-pandemic network. Better she extended it. Since February, the Senegalese pavilion has introduced 5 new routes including Lyon in France and Milan in Italy. On the continent, the company took its first steps in the coveted Central African market on March 29, with its entry into Cameroon (Douala) and Gabon (Libreville) from Cotonou. Its network now includes around fifteen cities in 13 countries in Africa and Europe. But Air Senegal is not going to stop there. At the same time as strengthening its African market, Air Senegal has initiated steps to serve London and Geneva. It also plans to open a trans-Pacific line to the United States by the end of the year. A request for authorization to this effect was submitted to the American authorities last February.
