Zimbabwe extends the current level four lockdown
Zimbabwe's President Emmerson Mnangagwa announced in a televised address to the nation on 09 August 2021 that the level four lockdown to curb the spread of Covid-19 in Zimbabwe is getting further extended by two weeks.
The current lockdown restrictions were imposed by the President on 29 June 2021. Under level four lockdown, intercity movement in Zimbabwe is prohibited, except for production and distribution of food and medicine. Businesses are only operating from 08:00 - 15:30 and general curfew hours are 18:30 - 06:00. According to President Mnangagwa, since the imposition of the enhanced level four lockdown restriction, Zimbabwe has recorded "relative success" in reducing infections with Covid-19.
