Expansion: Ibom Air Targets Northern Routes Expansion: Ibom Air Targets Northern Routes

Ibom Airlines has disclosed it is expanding its coverage routes to include some states in the northern part of Nigeria. Chief Operating Officer,  Ibom Airlines Limited, Mr George Oriesi, who made this public during an interview with DAILY INDEPENDENT in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, on Wednesday said the airline will expand its routes to include Yenogoa, Owerri, Benin, Kano and Yola.

The Airline, which is currently covering six destinations, targets next year to commence the expansion. His words: “Currently, we have six destinations: Uyo, Lagos, Abuja, Enugu, Port Harcourt and Calabar. We will definitely be expanding into a few places – Yenogoa, Asaba, Owerri, maybe Benin.

“But the next place we are working at is the North – Kano potentially, Yola potentially. But by the end of next year, we would have covered all these places we are talking about. We just started Port Harcourt in July, maybe before the end of the year, we will do one more,” he stated.

Oriesi said though Ibom Air plans to begin an international flight soon, it wants to first consolidate on its gains and successes, saying by next quarter of 2022, the airline will venture into regional flight.

He stated that once the airline begins to ply regional routes, starting from next year,  it would eventually cover the whole region. The COO said the company would not rest on its oars regarding its business model or take other airlines for granted, saying its philosophy about competition is that there is room for everybody to operate and thrive.

He reassured that the company will do all within its powers to maintain its schedule reliability, on-time performance and excellent services, adding that its long term goal is to be a world-class airline.
