Cunard Line updates restart date and itineraries for Queen Mary 2
Cunard Line has announced that Queen Mary 2 will now resume sailing from November 28th, 2021, instead of November 14th as previously planned. Queen Mary 2 was meant to resume sailing on November 14th with a trans-Atlantic voyage from Southampton to New York, but will now instead cruise the UK and Canary Islands.
The two new voyages, a three night UK cruise break and a 12 night Canary Islands itinerary, both departing from Southampton, replace the November 14th trans-Atlantic, and her subsequent Caribbean cruise, New York departure, and UK cruise.“We are pleased to be offering new opportunities to sail on our flagship later this year,” said Simon Palethorpe, President, Cunard Lina.
“Having been out of service for over 18 months we would like the initial few voyages for Queen Mary 2 to be closer to home,” he added. “Therefore, we have introduced two new voyages that will depart from Southampton to replace the original schedule.”
“We are so sorry though for the disappointment caused to those guests affected by the changes to these voyages and do hope we will see them on board later in the year,” he said.
Queen Mary 2’s first call back in to New York will be two days earlier than originally scheduled. This is to allow for all ship inspections in compliance with the latest regulatory requirements. She will now depart on December 13th, 2021 prior to arrival in New York on December 20th, before sailing to the Caribbean as scheduled on December 22nd, 2021.
All guests whose cruises have been cancelled will automatically receive a Future Cruise Credit worth 125% of the standard deposit terms, and 100% of any additional monies paid.
Alternatively, 100% refund is available through the form on the Cunard website. The new itineraries will go on sale in the coming weeks. While Cunard Line is staying close to home as it initially brings its fleet back into service (Queen Elizabeth is currently sailing a series of roundtrip UK cruises), the cruise line has plans to venture further afield next year.
Queen Elizabeth will cruise from Southampton to Dubai en-route for her Asian cruise season on February 20th, next year and will then cruise from Dubai to Singapore or Hong Kong on March 12th, 2022.
Queen Victoria meanwhile is due to cruise Western Europe out of the UK from April, 2022.
