Lesotho has further relaxed lockdown measures
The Prime Minister of Lesotho, Dr Moeketsi Majoro on 10 October 2021 announced that the country moves back to an even more relaxed Blue Colour Coding Stage starting midnight of the same day. Under Blue Colour Coding Stage, the nationwide curfew in Lesotho is between 12:00 midnight to 04:00. Businesses like restaurants and taverns, which are now allowed to operate with 50% capacity for sit-ins until 22:00, need to adhere to the current health regulations and must ensure that its guests are screened for Covid-19 and that they register with an Identification Document (ID) and vaccination certificates. Night clubs in Lesotho are allowed to re-open for vaccinated guests only until 23:00 with 50% capacity. Sports spectators are also permitted with the provision of vaccination card and ID. Industrial actions such as protests, and picketing remain prohibited.
International travels are allowed, noting that departing and arriving travellers must observe Covid-19 protocols which includes providing a validated negative Covid-19 test issued at most 72 hours before arrival. In line with the move to Blue Colour Coding Stage, Lesotho has also updated its border post operating hours. The updated operating hours are as follows:
- Van Rooyen's Gate 06:00 to 22:00
- Maseru Bridge 06:00 to 22:00
- Ficksburg Bridge 06:00 to 22:00
- Calendonspoort 06:00 to 22:00
- Sani Pass 06:00 to 18:00
- Qacha's Nek 06:00 to 16:00
Lesotho's main international airport, Moshoeshoe I International Airport (MSU), remains open as per flight schedule.
