SAA back into Mauritius, plans for Nigeria in
After more than a year of restructuring, South African Airways (SAA) resumed operations last September with a strategy of operating only profitable routes.
After almost two years of absence (since December 2019), South African Airways (SAA) resumed flights to Mauritius on Sunday 21 November 2021. For a start, the South African national airline offers 2 weekly flights (Wednesdays and Sundays), departing from Johannesburg. "Part of our growth strategy is to identify routes where there is demand and which can be profitable for the carrier. The resumption of services to Mauritius meets both these criteria.
In addition, the country has strong links with South Africa, and is both a popular tourist and business destination. We are confident that demand for tickets will be strong, especially as the summer season approaches," said acting CEO Thomas Kgokolo in a statement issued on 12 October.
