‘Let’s work together to achieve set targets for tourism in 2022,’ Okraku Mantey urges ‘Let’s work together to achieve set targets for tourism in 2022,’ Okraku Mantey urges

Ghana’s Deputy Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister, Mark Okraku Mantey has beseeched tourism industry players especially agencies under the ministry to work closely together to meet targets that have been set for the tourism industry.

Government has an ambitious goal of generating $5 billion from the sector each year and hopes to make it the number one contributor to the country’s GDP.

At a maiden carol service by the Ministry for its agencies, Okraku Mantey said, these targets would be far from achieved if stakeholders worked in silos.

“If tourism does well, it’s not for me, the Minister, the Chief Director or any of us here. It’s is for Ghana. And that’s why teamwork is very important. If we don’t work together, there is little that can be done. So as we go on into 2022 let’s find ways of working together to reach the $5 billion dollars’ target. It may seem scary, but very doable” the Deputy Minister said.

The carol service which was hosted at the National Theatre saw different choral groups from various agencies, including, the Ghana Tourism Authority, National Commission on Culture and the MoTAC Choir give beautiful renditions of popular carols.

Heads of agencies and some directors from the Ministry also took turns to read the ‘Ghana tourism’ renditions of nine lessons. Aside the choirs, the National Symphony Orchestra and the National Drama Company were also at hand to give patrons exciting performances.
