EgyptAir returns to Mumbai, India after a two-year absence EgyptAir returns to Mumbai, India after a two-year absence

India remains a key market in the development of EgyptAir's Asian network. The outbreak of the pandemic in 2020 had forced Star Alliance to suspend its flights to the country.

EgyptAir has announced the resumption of its flights to Mumbai from May 2, 2022, when the Egyptian flag carrier will offer four flights per week between Cairo and Mumbai. On this route, EgyptAir will be without competition and will line up its Boeing 737-800 (29 aircraft of the type in the fleet).
The resumption of this route "will strengthen [the carrier's] presence in the promising Asian markets", commented Amr Abu El-Enein, Egyptair's Chief Executive Officer.

Better still, the reopening will help boost the local tourism industry. In 2018, the country of the pharaohs welcomed 126,000 Indian tourists, reports the National Tourism Office.
