Ethiopian Airlines returns to Nosy Be
Last March, Madagascar decided to reopen its borders considering the significant drop in Covid-19 cases. A decision that had the effect of draining the airlines again.
After Antananarivo, it's Nosy Be's turn to find its usual visitors.
Ethiopian Airlines resumes service to Nosy Be. The Ethiopian airline inaugurated on May 14, 2022 its regular connection between Addis Ababa and the tourist city in the north-west of Madagascar.
The route is now operated, without competition, three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays by Boeing 737. Ethiopian Airlines had suspended this service since 2020 following travel restrictions imposed by the Malagasy government. Following the total reopening of the borders last March, Ethiopian Airlines and several other companies have resumed their flights to the Malagasy capital.
This has had the effect of reinvigorating the tourism industry, which has been going through a period of crisis for almost 2 years.
