Madagascar Airlines returns to Marseille in France, also relaunches Moroni in Comores
Madagascar Airlines is the company set up to lease the assets of Madagascar's national airline, Air Madagascar and its subsidiary Tsaradia. While the restructuring is underway, the company is working to rebuild its pre-pandemic network.
Madagascar Airlines has announced the resumption of services to Marseille in France next month. From 6 July, the Malagasy national carrier will offer a weekly flight every Wednesday between Marseille and Antananarivo. Eight flights are planned until the end of August, when the 22 and 29 flights will be operated on Mondays.
Madagascar Airlines plans to operate an Airbus A339 on this corridor. Since the end of May, it has been operating the same aircraft on its Paris route. The aircraft, leased from Hi Fly Portugal, can accommodate up to 371 passengers, including 18 in business class.
On 7 July, the airline will also resume flights to Moroni in the Comoros. It will operate its ATR72 fleet there twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays.
This resumption of flights to the Comoros is eagerly awaited by Comorians and Malagasy economic operators who have business relations with the sister island. Currently, the connection between the two countries is made via Nairobi (Kenya Airways), Addis Ababa (Ethiopian Airlines), Dzaoudzi (Ewa Air) or Reunion (Air Austral).
