Air Tanzania plans to fly to Namibia
Air Tanzania is expected to fly to Windhoek soon. This is as a result of an air agreement currently being finalised between Tanzania and Namibia.
In a recent interview with Namibia's public broadcaster NBC, Lebbius Tobias, Namibia's high commissioner to Tanzania, said the discussions, which began before the health crisis, were at a sufficiently advanced stage.
The Namibian negotiating team led by the Ministry of Works and Transport has submitted a draft document ("air accord") to their Tanzanian counterpart for confirmation. They have already received it and are currently doing the final check," Tobias said. "Air Tanzania will start flying to Windhoek. We are working hard to ensure that this will happen. The bilateral agreement will also give rights to a designated Namibian airline to operate the rotations to Tanzania.
It is expected that the issue will be on the agenda of the joint cooperation meeting that Namibia will host in September to discuss and review a number of agreements to advance their economies.
