Ethiopian Airlines makes Zurich its 2nd Swiss destination, schedules (finally) Amman
As air travel gradually returns to the green, Ethiopian Airlines (ET), the Ethiopian national airline, has resumed its forward march, ahead of the opening of new routes and the resumption and densification of old ones.
Ethiopian Airlines will introduce a new route to Zurich in Switzerland this autumn. From October 31, the Ethiopian state-owned flag carrier will offer 3 weekly flights (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) to the Swiss business hub via Milan in Italy.
Flight ETH736 will leave Addis Ababa at 00:15 and arrive in Zurich at 07:00 after a stopover (4:50-5:50) in Milan. On the return leg, flight ETH737 will leave Switzerland at 20:30 and arrive in the Ethiopian capital at 0730 the following day, again via Italy.
The route will be offered without competition by Boeing 787-9. Ethiopian Airlines currently serves Zurich via Frankfurt on a codeshare basis with its Star Alliance partner Lufthansa. The Swiss city is currently connected to other destinations on the continent by Chair Airlines, Edelweiss Air and Air Cairo or Swiss. Once launched, Zurich will become its second service in Switzerland, after Geneva, which is currently served three times a week.
Ethiopian Airlines will finally fly to Amman in Jordan after three postponements in three years. In a new schedule, the airline announces the opening of its flights to the Jordanian capital from 19 September 2022. The route will be offered without competition by Boeing 737.
This service had been announced since October 2018, then postponed initially to July 2019 and subsequently to September of the same year.
