Camair-Co reactivates a Boeing 737, on the ground for over a year Camair-Co reactivates a Boeing 737, on the ground for over a year

Camair-Co has been operating with reduced capacity for over a year. The unavailability of its two Boeing 737-700s, for maintenance reasons, had led to the compression of its regional network. One of Camair-Co's two Boeing 737-700s is expected to return to service soon. The aircraft (TJQCA, MSN 34480) arrived in Douala yesterday, Thursday 4 August 2022, from Addis Ababa in Ethiopia.

The 16 year old aircraft had been there since 7 April 2021, undergoing heavy maintenance and interior retrofitting. It is configured to seat 12 in Business Class and 116 in Economy Class. Its return to the fleet should allow the Cameroonian national carrier to consolidate its domestic market and to continue rebuilding its sub-regional network where it has recently resumed flights to Ndjamena and Libreville.

The carrier is now awaiting the return from Addis Ababa of the second 737-700 (TJQCB, MSN 33920) which left on 14 October 2021. Camair-Co is however less ambitious about the future of its only long-haul aircraft, a Boeing 767-300 ( TJCAC, MSN 28138) abandoned in the maintenance workshops of Ethiopian Airlines since 12 January 2008.

The rest of its fleet consists of two MA60s (out of service), two Dash8-400s (dry-lease) and one Embraer 135 and one Embraer 145 leased to Cronos Airlines, a private carrier based in Equatorial Guinea.
