Air Tanzania plans to serve Nigeria, Ghana and England in 2023 Air Tanzania plans to serve Nigeria, Ghana and England in 2023

Air Tanzania will expand its international network next year. Speaking to the press on Monday, August 15, 2023, its CEO announced that it will open three routes to Nigeria, Ghana and England. "We want to encourage people to use Air Tanzania to travel to Europe in particular," said Ladislaus Matindi.

Nigeria and Ghana would become its first destinations in West Africa, while London would become its first route to Europe. The carrier is also planning to expand its domestic network, and its offer to the Democratic Republic of Congo, with the forthcoming opening of corridors to Goma and Kinshasa, in addition to Lubumbashi which it already serves. It is currently negotiating with the Namibian government to serve their country.

These ambitions are in line with ATCL's upcoming fleet expansion, which is expected to receive two Boeing 737-900s and a 787-8 Dreamliner in 2023. Its fleet expansion plan also includes the acquisition of two Airbus A220-300s, a Dash 8-Q400 and a B767-300F (cargo). Currently, Tanzania's state-owned flag carrier has a fleet of eleven aircraft (four A220-300s, two B787-8 Dreamliners and five Dash 8-Q400s), with an average age of 3.7 years.
