Brazil assists Cape Verde in the certification of the Embraer ERJ 190 recently acquired by BestFly
Brazil's National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) is currently providing its expertise to Cape Verde's Civil Aviation Agency (CAA) in the operational certification process of the Embraer ERJ 190 aircraft acquired by BestFly Cabo Verde last April. "The two civil aviation authorities are seeking to consolidate the technical partnership in aeronautical regulation and to expand the market for aircraft produced in Brazil," said ANAC, in a statement issued on Monday 15 August 2022.
From the first week of June and between 26 July and this Monday 15 August, the two entities worked on the inspection, flight training and certification of the aforementioned aircraft, under the supervision of Felipe Gomes Barros, an ANAC expert. "The mission to Cape Verde is part of a bilateral agenda with several civil aviation authorities for the conclusion of certification and mutual recognition agreements", says the Brazilian agency.
"ANAC has deepened its relations with the civil aviation authorities of Portuguese-speaking countries, such as Cape Verde, which are members of the Community of Portuguese-speaking Civil Aviation Authorities (CAACL)," it adds.
The new ERJ190 (MSN 19000102), acquired on lease from ACIA Aero Leasing last June, will be mainly aligned with the company's international network, linking the archipelago to Portugal (Lisbon and Ponta Delgada) and to the African coastal countries: Angola, Ghana, Bissau, Senegal. Nigeria is also included in the service plan. It joins two ATR 72-600 that the airline currently operates. By the end of the year, a second ERJ190 and two Twin Otter aircraft will be acquired.
