Cabo Verde Airlines temporarily cancels flights to Lisbon due to operational strike
On the call of the National Union of Civil Aviation Workers (SINTAC), employees of PORTWAY, the main ground handling company in Portugal, will be on strike between 26 and 28 August 2022. This situation will disrupt the flights of several airlines, including Cabo Verde Airlines.
Cabo Verde Airlines (CVA) flights scheduled between 26 and 28 August 2022 (from midnight to midnight), to and from Lisbon, are cancelled. The Cape Verdean national carrier announced this in a press release issued the day before. It was forced to take this decision because of the strike of PORTWAY employees, planned for these three days, called by the National Union of Civil Aviation Workers (SINTAC), and which will lead to a paralysis of the assistance services of the aforementioned operator, in the airports of Lisbon, Porto, Faro and Funchal.
"PORTWAY regrets the inconvenience that this situation may cause to passengers, and the impact that the strike may have on airport operations", the ground services manager laments. A total of six CVA flights are affected, namely Praia - Lisbon (26 August), Lisbon - Sal (26 August), Sal - Lisbon (27 August), Lisbon - Praia (27 August), Praia - Lisbon (28 August) and Lisbon - São Vicente (28 August).
"The company is working to transport the affected passengers from Monday 29 August. All travellers will be informed of operational flights by telephone and e-mail addresses, so they should not go to the airport," Cabo Verde Airlines warns. According to PORTWAY, the operations of other airlines, including Tunisair, will also be affected by this mood movement. However, the Tunisian flagship has not issued any announcement on the matter.
