Ghana Tourism Authority launches 2022 Tourism Month
The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has launched this year’s Ghana Tourism Month. The Tourism Month is observed each year in September and features a list of tourism related activities and events such as festivals, musical concerts, tours and climaxes with the World Tourism Day celebration on September 27.
Deputy CEO of GTA in charge of Operations, Ekow Sampson in his
address at the launch today at the Authority’s head office said,
“September as the “Tourism Month” in Ghana was instituted by the Ghana
Tourism Authority and it is geared towards encouraging the patronage of
prominent festivals, events, tourist sites and attractions in the
country as well as highlighting the critical roles domestic tourism
plays in growing an inclusive and sustainable tourism economy.”
He added that the government is currently pursuing quality tourism development that is internationally competitive and compatible with Ghana’s social values and environmental settings.
Member of Parliament for Mpraeso, Davies Opoku remarked that he was impressed with the attention domestic tourism promotion has been given in recent times, adding that it was necessary that all got on board to explore the country’s sites and attractions and share their experiences to the rest of the world.
