Air Tanzania continues working with Swissport
Since January 2020, Swissport has been managing the entire ground handling operations of Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL) at Juilius Nyerere Dar es Salaam International Airport (DAR) and Kilimanjaro International Airport.
Swissport will continue to provide ground services, cargo handling and flight security for Air Tanzania at its main hub, Dar es Salaam International Airport (DAR), until 2024. The Swiss multinational announced on Monday, September 5, 2022, that it has extended its partnership with the Tanzanian state-owned carrier by two years. It will take charge of approximately 134 weekly flights, and the handling of ATCL's Boeing 787 Dreamliner, Airbus A220 and Dash 8-400 aircraft.
"We are delighted that Air Tanzania has once again chosen Swissport as its partner for a range of critical ground services, which have a significant impact on an airline's punctuality and reliability. This underlines that our leading position in handling hubs and large bases is recognised throughout the industry, and is also bearing fruit at the Tanzanian metropolis airport," said Mrisho Yassin, Managing Director of Swissport Tanzania. Since January 2020, Swissport has also been providing Air Tanzania's ground handling services at Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO), the second base of the Tanzanian state-owned flagship. From its two hubs, it serves ten domestic and six international destinations. Swissport currently provides services to some 850 airlines on six continents. Swissport Tanzania serves 23 mostly African carriers.
