TAAG Angola Airlines returns to Ghana after 15 years, makes Durban 3rd destination in South Africa
As part of its expansion plan, TAAG Angola Airlines will add two new destinations, Accra and Durban, to its African network, starting next month.
From November 9, TAAG Angola Airlines will introduce a route between Luanda and Accra, Ghana. The service to the West African country will be offered three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Flight DT550 will leave Luanda at 8:30 pm and arrive in Accra at 10:50 pm. On the return trip, flight DT550 will leave the Ghanaian capital the next day at 2:00 a.m. and land at Quatro de Fevereiro International Airport at 6:30 a.m.
The carrier will be without competition on this route. It will use its Boeing 737 fleet. TAAG Angola Airlines last served Accra in December 2007. With this addition, Ghana will become its second connected country in West Africa after Nigeria.
On November 17, the Angolan flag carrier will also open a new route to Durban from Luanda. The route will operate three times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays) with the same type of aircraft.
Departures from Luanda are scheduled at 8:30 pm for arrivals at 10:50 pm. In the opposite direction, departures will leave at 2:00 am and land at 6:30 am. Once launched, Durban will become its third destination in South Africa, after Jphannesburg and Cape Town.
For these two new destinations, the schedules have been carefully chosen to allow connections to its flights to Europe (Lisbon and Madrid) and America (Sao Paulo).
As a reminder, TAAG Angola Airlines also plans to re-launch its service to Cuba on November 8, as well as to increase its offer to Spain and Portugal.
