Oceania Cruises to offer grand voyage to Japan from South Africa in 2023 Oceania Cruises to offer grand voyage to Japan from South Africa in 2023

Oceania Cruises will sail a 64-night grand voyage from Cape Town to Yokohama in Japan during the 2022/23 cruise season, with Nautica departing January 18th, 2023 from the ‘Mother City’. The full 64-night cruise is a mammoth 36-port itinerary calling in more than a dozen countries, with 34 shore excursions included free in the price of the cruise, which starts at $19,799 per guest.

For those looking for a shorter voyage, however, the cruise is also bookable as a shorter itinerary of 18 nights (ending in Mumbai, India), or 32 nights (ending in Laem Chabang near Bangkok, Thailand). With 36 port calls on offer during the full itinerary, it would take up too much space to list them all off, but the full 64-night itinerary can be seen on the map below.

Of Cape Town, where the cruise begins, Oceania says: “It’s difficult to get lost in Cape Town because gorgeous Table Mountain looms above the city as a reference. For breathtaking views, ride the cable car to the top, or explore this urbane city on foot. Visit the fascinating South African Museum and Planetarium and the culturally significant St. George’s Cathedral.”

In Mossel Bay, the cruise line will offer guests excursions to its beautiful beaches, as well as horseback riding and whale and dolphin watching, or game safaris and a cruise to Seal Island, populated by over 2,500 Cape fur seals.

In Durban, the cruise line offers walking tours of the city’s British colonial architecture, the Golden Mile beach area for its shopping on the promenade, or the Juma Masjid, the largest mosque in the southern hemisphere.

Richard’s Bay is safari central, and a popular cruise port due to its proximity to major game reserves featuring South Africa’s famous Big Five (the lion, leopard, black rhinoceros, African bush elephant, and the African buffalo). Passengers can also visit the lookout point at Alkantstrand Beach to glimpse dolphins and whales offshore.

From Richard’s Bay, Nautica heads off to Maputo, the Comores, Seychelles, Madagascar, India and through the endlessly varied and exciting ports of Southeast Asia.

The onboard lifestyle during the cruise is laidback luxury, with Oceania inviting guests to read a book and watch the ocean go by from the library, sip fine vintages at a wine tasting, or attend an engaging guest lecture in anticipation of the next destination.

On the upper decks there’s a putting green, and during the afternoons there are trivia contests and bridge tournaments, as well as deep relaxation at the Canyon Ranch Spa.

When it comes to dining, there’s Toscana’s authentic Italian dishes, Polo Grill’s steakhouse fare, Continental cuisine in the Grand Dining Room, and made-to-order American favourites in the Terrace Café.
