Mauritius to host 66th UNWTO CAF Meeting Mauritius to host 66th UNWTO CAF Meeting

The Republic of Mauritius, an island nation in the Indian Ocean, has been confirmed as the host of the 66th World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Commission for Africa (CAF) Meeting in 2023.

In a unanimous decision by member states at the 65th CAF Meeting held in Arusha, Tanzania, The Island state of Mauritius and the People’s Republic of Algeria were acclaimed to host the region’s important decision-making event for 2023 and 2024 respectively.

In his remarks post the decision, the Deputy Prime Minister of Mauritius H.E. Louis Steven OBEEGADOO, who also holds the Tourism portfolio expressed his COUNTRY’s appreciation to member states for the confidence entrusted in the island nation to host its first major UNWTO event.

The country in consultation with UNWTO will in due course announce the dates for the hosting of the meeting in 2023.

The Republic of Mauritius has been a member of UNWTO since 1980.

Tourism in Mauritius is an important component of the Mauritian economy as well as a significant source of its foreign exchange revenues.
