Royal Air Maroc returns to Angola after more than 2 years of absence
Since the reopening of the borders and the resumption of traffic during the 2022 summer season, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) is progressively strengthening its flight programme, with a consolidation of its Portuguese-speaking markets.
RAM will resume, as of next month, the direct route between Casablanca and Luanda. From 9 December, the Moroccan national carrier will offer three flights per week, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Flights departing from Casablanca will leave at 10:05pm and arrive the next day at 4:55am local time. Returns are scheduled at 05:55 for a landing on Moroccan soil at 13:00.
RAM is without competition on this route which it will serve with Boeing 737MAX8. The Moroccan flag carrier last served Luanda in March 2020. The route, first opened in 2011, was suspended in the midst of the health crisis. At that time, it lined up a Boeing 737-800 on that corridor instead.
The reinforcement of its flight programme also includes the re-establishment, as of 9 December, of its Casablanca-Tenerife routes with two frequencies per week (Thursday and Saturday) and Casablanca-Porto with two frequencies per week (Monday and Friday). Since the end of October, RAM has also launched two new air routes (Paris CDG-Marrakech and Seville-Tanger-Casablanca).
"With the recovery of traffic, Royal Air Maroc is committed to strengthening its offer to confirm its status as a reference player in Moroccan tourism and a major airline in our continent. We are thus mobilizing to consolidate our position in major tourist markets such as France and Spain and to support our presence in Africa where our network now includes 27 destinations. Our commitment also continues with the Moroccan and African diasporas by launching and re-establishing direct routes that bring them closer to their mother countries", says Mr Hamid ADDOU, Chairman and CEO of Royal Air Maroc.
