Nigeria : Lagos rouvre la piste dédiée aux vols domestiques après 4 mois de travaux
Runway 18L/36R at Lagos International Airport was last rehabilitated in 2008. Dedicated to domestic flights, it did not have adequate lighting to allow it to be operational at night. This shortcoming has now been rectified.
According to a press release from the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), runway 18L/36R dedicated to domestic flights at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos reopened on Friday 11 November after a makeover. Closed since 7 July, this runway, the second at the airport, has been equipped with a complete night lighting system. The reopened runway is expected to bring significant financial benefits to domestic airlines, which will now be able to extend their operations into the night. The reopening of this runway will also allow carriers to make substantial savings in taxiing time (previously 10 minutes or more between the parking area and the international runway), and consequently in fuel consumption.
