Kenya Airways re-launches Accra-Dakar route after 8 years
There is currently no direct air link between Senegal and Ghana. The connection between the two West African countries, members of ECOWAS, represents a potential market, which Kenya Airways wants to re-explore.
Kenya Airways intends to strengthen its services to Senegal by the end of the year. The Kenyan flag carrier plans to resume its Nairobi-Accra-Dakar route from 11 December.
This route, operated by Boeing 737-800s, will be served twice a week, increasing the overall frequency to Dakar from 2 to 4 weekly flights.
On Tuesdays and Sundays, flight KQA514 will depart Nairobi at 21:30, arrive in Accra at 00:10 the following day, leave one hour later and land in the Senegalese capital at 04:15 local time. On the return leg, flight KQA515 will leave Dakar at 05:15 and land in Accra at 08:20, leaving at 09:20 and arriving in Nairobi at 18:00.
Kenya Airways will have a monopoly on this route. It last operated the Accra-Dakar route until August 2014. Currently, the Skyteam member carrier offers 2 weekly flights to Senegal on the Nairobi - Abidjan - Dakar route
